Lesaffre firar 170-årsjubileum. Men, som med alla levande varelser, har dess förflutna bara en mening: att göra det möjligt att bygga sin framtid.

 

Dessa 170 år representerar en milstolpe där vi alla kan mötas – anställda och partners – för att fira tidigare prestationer och se fram emot de kommande åren. Framtiden kommer att baseras på tre pelare: våra framgångar, vårt engagemang för planeten och, naturligtvis, oss alla. För vår uppgift är att växa, så att vi kan uppfylla vårt uppdrag: Working together to better nourish and protect the planet.

Vårt företag byggdes runt vänskapen mellan Louis Lesaffre och Louis Bonduelle. 1853 lanserade de två män företagets första spannmålssprit- och holländska ginfabrik i Marquette-lez-Lille i norra Frankrike. De förvärvade senare sin första kvarn i Marcq-en-Baroeul.

 

Från den platsen växte Socièté Industrielle Lesaffre, som gradvis visade sig vara drivkraften bakom koncernens industriella och kommersiella boom inom jäst.

 

Som med alla levande varelser har vårt förflutna bara en mening; för att göra det möjligt för den att bygga vår framtid.

 

170 år är en möjlighet att inventera, med alla som varit med oss på vår resa. Men framför allt är det en möjlighet att blicka framåt, identifiera – kanske till och med föreställa oss – hur vi ska fortsätta att uppfylla vårt uppdrag; Working together to better nourish and protect the planet.

Lesaffre är en global aktör inom jäsning i mer än ett sekel, med en omsättning på 2,2 miljarder euro och etablerad på alla kontinenter, räknar ca. 10 700 anställda och mer än 85 nationaliteter. Med denna erfarenhet och mångfald arbetar vi med kunder, partners och forskare för att hitta allt mer relevanta svar på matens behov, hälsa, naturlighet och respekt för vår miljö. Således utforskar och avslöjar vi den oändliga potentialen hos mikroorganismer varje dag.

 

Att ge näring åt 9 miljarder människor år 2050 på ett hälsosamt sätt genom att utnyttja vår planetens resurser är en stor och aldrig tidigare skådad fråga. Vi tror att fermentation är ett av de mest lovande svaren på denna utmaning.

 

År 2010 bildades Lesaffre Nordic som erbjuder våra fem nordiska länder jäst, aktiv surdeg och bakhjälpmedel. Vi är en liten organisation och ligger i Göteborg med kontor och Baking CenterTM.

Redan 1965, fanns vetskapen om behovet om bagarens krav, då Lesaffre utvecklade en forskning & utveckling (R&D) laboratorium. Lesaffre R&D’s mål är att förstå den biokemiska process som sker i brödet vid bakning och därefter välja de mikroorganismer som lämpar sig bäst till recept och processer.

Lesaffre innovates by developing natural flavor molecules, yeast extracts that optimize nutritional, sensory and taste qualities, and alcohol fermentation solutions for makers of beers, wines and spirits.

Bioteknologi

In the field of biotechnologies, Lesaffre develops efficient cellular nutrients reserved for the creation of new molecules to benefit humans and animals.
In parallel, our group also helps to create yeast strains that are conducive to the development of 1st and 2nd generation bioethanol. In the interest of promoting a sustainable economy, our group is equally active alongside biosourced chemistry industries.

Lesaffre CSR strategy: daily challenges and commitments

Protecting the planet together


The environment accounts for 15% of our industrial spending and, each time we build a new factory, we dedicate 20% to 30% of our investments to environmental protection. Using recycling and co-product development in production, optimizing water consumption and encouraging energy savings are all actions that contribute to the preservation of our ecosystem. In the interest of respectfully integrating our business with the environment, Lesaffre employs scientific experts in developing by-products and reprocessing effluents.

Working to grow human capital

Since its creation, Lesaffre has understood that its people are the lynchpin of its success and has been committed to fostering respect and fulfillment among its employees, throughout their time at the company. As a result, experience-sharing, dialogue, diversity and the encouragement of initiative are all characteristics of the group. And at our subsidiaries in China, Morocco, Argentina and elsewhere, Lesaffre again distinguishes itself through the many field initiatives that aim to improve the local populations’ standards of living. Lastly, our ethics strategy is an integral part of our culture, today taking the form of a behavioral charter that was the result of collective discussions and our responsible practice beliefs.

In a fast-changing environment, Lesaffre needs to maintain its high ambitions and improve its sustainability actions on a daily basis. With this in mind, each of our 9,500 employees proactively share their good environmental, social and economic practices, particularly during our internal Corporate Social Responsibility Awards, held every other year. More than 50 long-term initiatives can testify to Lesaffre’s commitment to living our shared motto: “Working together to better nourish and protect the planet.”
